Schools, leisure facilities and others

THE RISE in population will mean an increase in other services too - Rugby Borough Council hopes to build new schools to cater for the influx.

Suggestions include a new primary school at the proposed housing site near Coton Meadows and a new secondary school at the former mast site, where thousands of new homes are planned.

The mast site - which could take 20,000 people - would also include lesiure facilities, shops and businesses.

Despite this, officials are keen for it not to become a 'separate town' and hope to build transport links to Rugby's town centre.

They also said houses will not be built on the flood plain area, which they said is further north towards Clifton.

The council has also had to identify sites for a possible gispy settlement near Rugby, as instructed by the Government.

These include areas to the north of the borough, around Brinklow and

all around the town of Rugby and the edge of Coventry.
