Strong annual results have confirmed a demand of local relationship banking, according to the team at a Rugby bank.

Handelsbanken Rugby has already reported an encouraging start to the year, following strong 2015 annual results for the bank in the UK.

The firm says the successful year of growth is down to the loyalty of its local branch customers.

Its full year 2015 annual results reveal an 11 per cent rise in lending to British customers from the final

quarter of 2014 to the final quarter of last year.

Over this period, UK business lending increased eight per cent to £10.36bn, while lending to personal banking

customers rose 17 per cent, to £5.09bn.

UK customer deposits increased 13 per cent over the same period, to £8.69bn.

Handelsbanken Rugby is run by a team of five experienced local bankers and is one of 206 British branches across the country.

Andy McCabe, manager of Handelsbanken’s Rugby branch, said: “We are delighted to see that our traditional, local banking approach continues to be extremely popular with individuals and businesses in Rugby, and indeed all over the UK.”

Handelsbanken’s UK chief executive Anders Bouvin said: “We know that having a local presence in the communities we serve is important to our customers.

“They value a personal relationship based on trust and responsibility, being able to talk to a decision maker who knows their circumstances, which is a vital part of our traditional banking model.”

Handelsbanken’s Rugby branch is at Suite 1, Bloxam Court, Corporation Street, telephone (01788) 561182.
