Four people taken to hospital after crash near Rugby

Four people were take to hospital after a collision near Rugby yesterday.

At 4.10pm yesterday a serious accident resulted in the closure of the A45 westbound.

The incident happened just west of the point where the A45 is joined by the Straight Mile and the traffic coming over the flyover by McDonald’s, wanting to head towards Coventry.

Police closed the A45 just east of the accident to use the turn-off for the petrol station and McDonald’s.

The police said the accident involved a collision between a car and motorcycle.

A spokesperson from the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “At 4.09pm we were called to the junction of the A45 and the A4071.

“We were called out to initial reports of a collision involving two motorbikes and a car.

“Two ambulances attended with a paramedic area support officer and with a Warwickshire and Northamptonshire ambulance critical care car.

“One of our crews treated a woman and two children and they were all transferred to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

“The motorcyclist was a man in his 30s and he was found by our crews approximately 20 metres away from his bike.

“He was treated for pelvic injuries and was fully conscious. He was immobilised, given pain relief and University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire were alerted to his condition for his arrival.”
