ELDERLY people in Rugby Borough are being urged to take advantage of free electric blanket tests being organised by Warwickshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service.
The nearest testing venue for Rugby residents is:
Rugby Library, Wednesday 3rd October 2012
The county-wide scheme is open to all Warwickshire residents aged 50 or over. Testing is by appointment only and the number of appointments is limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Due to the expected demand for blanket tests, a limit of two blankets per person has been set.
To book an appointment, call the Trading Standards Service
on: 01926 414016 (Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm) or email: email@example.com
Testing, by appointment only, will take place at the following venues around Warwickshire:
Leamington Town Hall, Monday 1st October 2012 Nuneaton Fire Station, Tuesday 2nd October 2012.
Rugby Library, Wednesday 3rd October 2012 Kenilworth Library, Thursday 4th October 2012 Stratford Fire Station, Friday 5th October 2012
If you are unable to take advantage of the testing programme you can check your own blankets by looking for the following warning signs:
· the fabric is worn or frayed
· there are scorch marks anywhere
· the tie tapes are damaged or missing
· the flex is worn or damaged
· any connections are loose
Remember older blankets in regular use are much more likely to have one or more of the above faults.
