A woman who is fighting cancer took the brave decision to have her hair shaved before chemotherapy took away the decision.

Tracie Mills was joined by her best friend Helen Miles for the sponsored hair shave on Saturday in aid of the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.

It took place at Mops Hair Studio in Dunchurch where Tracie works and was followed by a charity event at The Half Moon Pub in Lawford Road, Rugby.

Helen said: “Tracie and I decided to shave our heads to raise the first £500 towards the £10,000 appeal.

“She decided that it wasn’t an option for chemotherapy to take it – she would do it herself before that happened and I offered to do it with her.”

Tracie, of Lytham Road, Rugby, was diagnosed with breast cancer on January 2 this year - and is determined to help others overcome the disease.

She said: “I have decided to turn my negative feelings and emotions into positive actions to get me through the journey ahead and beyond with a focus and to be able to give the breast cancer charity something back, so less people have to go through this rollercoaster of emotion and fear.”

Tracie is now appealing for people to come forward to help with prizes for her fundraising ball. Anyone wishing to contribute prizes is asked to call Helen Miles on 07969 49927.
