Friendship stands the tests of time for two popular ladies of Crick

Two ladies from Crick who met at school when they were five are celebrating their 80th birthdays.

Daisy Humphreys and Mary Mitchell friendship has lasted the test of time without even one cross word.

They have just celebrated their birthdays by going on holiday to Greece with Mary’s son Stuart.

Daisy was 80 on August 23 and Mary celebrates on October 27.

They have been friends since they were five years old as they grew up on the Southfields Estate.

Daisy’s daughter Julie said: “They are simply the very best of friends and such lovely women.

“They grew up together in Southfields - my mum in Benn Street and Mary in Naseby Road. Although my mum had 11 other siblings Mary has always been like a sister to her.”

The friends enjoy going to the bingo on mystery weekends, coach holidays and village activities.

“They are always laughing and never see the bad in anyone,” added Julie.

“The ladies, who are both now sadly widows, are well known and very popular in the village. We are all very proud of them.”
