Gang attack man in Leicester Road

A man was punched and headbutted as he walked along Leicester Road in Rugby.

A 20-year-old man was walking with his girlfriend in the direction of the town centre along Leicester Road, opposite the Bell and Barge public house, when they encountered three men walking in the opposite direction.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “As they walked past two of the males from the group assaulted the 20-year-old male, punching and headbutting him in the head. He was later taken to hospital for treatment to a cut over his eye.”

One of the attackers has been described as a white male, aged 19-20 years old, approx 5ft 11ins to 6ft tall, of athletic build with short brown hair which was cut in a “buzz cut”.

He was wearing a white hoodie also had some green and blue marking on it.

The second attacker is described as being of mixed race aged 19-20 years 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall and of stocky build.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and information following an assault which happened at 5.45pm on Tuesday July 16.
