Emergency roadworks have come into force today, Wednesday, on a stretch of Mill Road in Rugby between Aqua Place and its junction with Butlers Leap.

Warwickshire County Council said it brought in the order, “to avoid the likelihood of danger to the public whilst works are facilitated to effect repairs to a gas leak”.

It says the repairs will last for up to 21 days or until the work is completed.

It says pedestrian access to the affected properties will be maintained and vehicle access allowed when possible.

The diversionary route around the closure is via Boughton Road, Leicester Road and Technology Drive.

The crucial stretch of Mill Road under the railway line remains open.
