Charities and good causes from across the region are set to benefit from a sponsored bike ride being organised by a cycling enthusiast.
The Two Counties Challenge is being held on Sunday September 1 and offers participants the opportunity to raise funds for any charity or good cause they wish.
Martin Hackley, the event organiser from Dunchurch, said: “There has been a huge increase in the number of charity challenge events and particularly bike rides in recent years. However, most small charities and good causes do not have the resources to organise cycle challenges and therefore they miss out on this opportunity. I’m very passionate about cycling so I have decided to organise a bike ride event that will benefit local charitable organisations and good causes.”
The event offers distances of 50 and 100 kilometre circular routes along quiet country lanes in Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, with starts in Dunchurch and Towcester. In recent years Mr Hackley has organised a number of charity bike rides raising over £15,000. The most recent event, held in February, had over 500 participants and raised nearly £5,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
