CANCER charities will be given a boost when a popular ball takes place in the spring.

The 2012 Rugby Cancer Emerald Ball is being held on March 17 and organisers launched a new advertising banner last week.

Billed as an evening of Celtic charm, 230 guests will take part in the champagne reception, four course fine dining, live entertainment, auction and raffles.

Charities chosen to benefit from the Emerald Ball are Cancer Research UK and the Cancer Ward Appeal at University Hospital.

The success of the ball relies on the generosity of local business such as the Perry Appleton Group. Director Simon Leech said: “We continue to pledge our support to this important community event because we at Perry Appleton know all too well the consequences to those who have bravely fought and won the battle against cancer, something these charities are hoping to make a thing of the past.”
