Mum's big leap to thank Birmingham Children's Hospital

Jessica Boulton’s giant leap will be a sponsored tandem skydive at Peterborough at the end of June.

It’s not something she’s done before but she said she was happy to do it for: “A charity very close to our hearts.

“As our son was born with craniofacial-craniosynotosis, basically causing the bones in his skull to fuse to early, he needed a life-saving operation when he was just one years old.

“The operation involved reshaping of the forehead in order to release pressure.

“The care we received from all the staff was amazing and the skydive is my way of saying thank you.”

Baby Jensen’s operation took place in November 2013 and he’s now four and at nursery and Jessica says he is always happy in whatever he goes through.

She added: “We’re still busy in and out of hospital but it’s slowed down a bit so I said it’s the right time for me to do it and now it’s all become very real.

“That hospital is absolutely amazing, there’s something about it when you walk in.

“They are fantastic for children and so supportive for the family.

“For any child being in hospital is a big thing and scary for adults but Birmingham Children’s Hospital is just excellent at everything they do.”

Jessica was born in St Cross but grew up in Lutterworth and went to Lutterworth Grammar.

Husband Andrew is from Rugby and after a short while living in Rugby they are now in Lutterworth.

In addition to the skydive she is also planning a fundraising event at Karter’s cafe in Lutterworth on March 26.

As the day draws closer she admits to being both excited and nervous – and in terms of Andrew’s feelings: “He said I’m mad but he’s proud of me and fully supportive.”
