GUIDE Dogs for the Blind needs £45m a year to keep its service running - so the charity has
organised a week of fundraising in October.

This year the theme for the National Guide Dog Week is ‘Walk a mile in our shoes’, with the charity asking people to take a blindfolded walk with a guide dog and a trainer.

National Guide Dog Week starts on October 8.

The Rugby Guide Dog fundraisers will be around the town collecting throughout the week.

On October 13, Specsavers in Rugby is having a fundraising activity day at their shop in the Clock Towers Shopping Centre.

Rugby fundraising co-ordinator, Chris Wade said: “I don’t work in Rugby so my commute to Coventry is made so much easier by my guide dog.

“Our aim is always to raise awareness and funds because during its lifetime a guide dog will cost £50,000 so I feel that I am putting something back as well helping others with visual impairments.
