Competitors battled it out at Peak Performance gym in Rugby to find the strongest man.

More than 200 people turned out see men push their strength and fitness levels to the limit at Rugby’s Strongest Man competition.

Organiser Richard Minney said: “It was a really good turn out and an impressive competition.”

The builder, from Hillmorton, is no stranger to competitions and has competed in some gruelling events.

Richard came second in the England Strong Man competition in his 105-kilo body weight category.

After being successful in numerous competitions, Richard is using his expertise in truck pulling and log lifting to help organise Strong Man events around the country.

He said: “The competition places were booked up within 24 hours.

“It was a great day, enjoyed by people of all ages.”

He would like to thank everybody who supported the recent event, including sponsors.

“All the companies are from Rugby,” said Richard.

“They are Clifton Road Chiropractic, Dew Construction, JMD Roofing, NMB nutrition and Rebel Strength Essex.

“And there’s a big shout out to Spencer and Becky Brown, the owners of Peak Performance gym in Somers Road, for letting me run the competition.”
