Rugby residents are set to benefit from a more improved bus service that travels between hospitals.

The improved transport is thanks to NHS Coventry and Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, Travel de Courcey and patient representatives in Rugby.

People in Rugby had raised concerns and issues about the timing of the bus service with the CCG at patient forums and groups in July 2013. Since then, a working group was set-up to provide reassurance and address any worries.

The group came up with a resolution and collectively agreed to improve the timing of the bus service to offer a better service.

Dr Adrian Canale-Parola, Chair of NHS Coventry and Rugby CCG, said: “We’re pleased that we’ve been able to resolve the issue, but above all it’s going to benefit the people who use this service. We have listened to what people in Rugby were telling us, this is an example of our involvement with local people it shows how important it is to capture the experience and feedback from our patients.”

The newly refreshed NHS Network service launched on Monday at Rugby’s Hospital of St Cross.

Clive Robinson, Sustainable Development Manager at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, said: “The Trust is committed to providing public transport alternatives to enable our patients and visitors to easily and cheaply access our services. People in Rugby now have more options than ever to get to the Hospital of St Cross and University Hospital in Coventry thanks to the support of the Trust. And it is great that we have been able to provide this in response to local feedback.”
