DURING the last week there have been an increase in the number of vehicles being targeted by thieves and equipment being stolen from inside.

In the last few years vehicle crime has reduced and Neighbourhood Watch want to stop the trend before more cars are targeted.

The most common items being targeted are sat navs, laptops and tools.

A spokesman for Neighbourhood Watch said: “The police have increased patrols and are investigating the crimes.

“We need your help to spread the following message. One of the most common targets are commercial vehicles parked outside people’s homes. We are asking if you know any neighbours who work from home and/or have a commercial vehicle, such as vans or pickups, parked outside their homes who may need to be extra vigilant. If you feel comfortable talking to your neighbours about this, can you please pass on the message.

“We are asking them to remove any sat navs, laptops, phones and tools overnight from vehicles where possible and to secure their vehicles when on site working. Warning stickers that state that all tools have been removed are available free of charge at Rugby Police Station. If they are worried about vehicle security, they are asked to contact their local Safer Neighbourhoods Team.”
