A MUCH-LOVED headteacher will say a fond farewell to children, parents and colleagues as she prepares for retirement.
Teresa Edwards, who has been in charge of St Marie’s Nursery and Catholic Infant School for eight years, says she will miss the friendship and support of colleagues, but most of all the children who were the reason she went into teaching.
Mrs Edwards, who has worked in Warwickshire schools for 36 years, said: “With the amalgamation of St Marie’s Infant and Junior schools it seemed like the right time to leave, to let new people drive the venture forward.
“For the first time ever I will be able to take a holiday in term time.
I intend to catch up on a lot of good books and I will take control of the wilder parts of the garden. After a good break I may look to do some voluntary work overseas.”
Colleagues of Mrs Edwards said she will be remembered for creating a caring and supportive community in which children could reach their full potential.
Mark Walsh will take over as headteacher for the infant and junior school in September.
