Smokers are being urged to stamp out the habit on national No Smoking Day with the help of online and health care support services.

Thousands of residents with the unhealthy habit are being encouraged to quit for good starting on Wednesday March 9 - the British Heart Foundation’s official Stop Smoking Day.

Set up to inspire smokers to stub out their cigarettes for good, this year’s message being Be Proud to Be a Quitter.

And Warwickshire County council health professionals say the decision is now easier than ever with its online support service, Quit for Good.

The free 12-week programme offers expert support from fellow quitters and medical professionals and includes regular support emails, medication and face-to-face advice in pharmacies.

There is also a tailored service for pregnant women which includes home visits from health care professionals.

And evidence shows people are four times more like to succeed with help.

Jane Wright from NHS Warwickshire Stop Smoking Service said: “We now have a wide range of support options available for anyone who wants to become smoke free and gain all the benefits this brings.”
