A woman who is battling cancer has helped raise nearly £1,000 with a little help from her ‘breast friends’ who took part in Race for Life.
Tracie Mills has been raising money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity with her team of devoted supported.
She has raised more than £10,000 since she launched he fundraising appeal in the summer. More than £900 alone has come from her friends who took part in the Race for Life event in Rugby.
Tracie, of Lytham Road, was diagnosed with breast cancer in January.
She has just finished the last of her chemotherapy and now faces more surgery. Tracie said: “I never thought I would see this day but I have, with sheer determination and with the love and support of good friends.
“Surgery is to follow along with a long haul of radiotherapy.”
She said although another box has been ticked she will continue to fight. “I will fight it in the same way I have the last nine months.”
Tracie said cancer is a cruel and devastating disease and that’s the drive behind her fundraising appeal. “I hope the money goes some way to find a cure,” she added.
