Another gunpoint robbery in Rugby

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at gunpoint in the early hours of Tuesday morning (August 30) in Rugby.

At approximately 4.30am, the offender approached the night porter at a hotel on Brownsover Lane, Rugby and produced what is described as a silver coloured ‘short gun’ before demanding access to the safe.

He was given a quantity of cash and then left the scene on foot towards Brownsover.

The offender is described as a white man in his mid-40s, around six feet tall and of skinny build.

His appearance was described as “scruffy looking” and he had a dirty looking face and a long ginger beard.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a black jacket with grey sleeves, dark bottoms and dark boots, with a woolly peaked hat.

Police did not rule out the possibility the incident was linked to an earlier robbery in Rugby.

DC Stephen Mobbs from Rugby CID said: “We are investigating the possibility that this incident was linked to another robbery in the area over the weekend and all lines of enquiry are being pursued.

“We would like to hear from any members of the public who may have seen this man or have any information about this incident.

“Fortunately no-one was hurt, but the victim was understandably left shaken.”
