ROCK super-star Scott Ian will be visiting Rugby next May - to talk about the 31 years he’s spent at the helm of one of the planet’s biggest rock bands.
As a founding member of Anthrax – who are heralded by music fans as one of the four pioneers of 1980s thrash metal along with Metallica, Mega Deth and Slayer – Scott will be in Vault as part of his Speaking Words tour, telling anecdotes and lifting the lid on the lid on life as an international rock icon. Guests will have a chance to hear all this first hand and also have a chance to grill him in a question and answer session. The Speaking Words tour came about after the success of a one off show in London.
Speaking about the up-coming event, Scott said: “I’m calling it ‘Speaking Words’ because the pretension of saying I am doing a ‘Spoken Word’ tour is too much to bear. This isn’t a poetry reading or an evening of sensitive discourse. It’s an evening of ridiculous truth.
“It’s me talking (swearing) about this insane life I’ve led over the last 31 years, the people I’ve met and the stuff that’s happened. And when I’m done swearing, you can ask me anything you want, the floor is yours. Cheers my friends, see you in May.”
Scott is the guitarist and founding member of Anthrax who come from New York City and have sold 15 million records worldwide since 1981.
Alex Milas, editor of the show’s sponsor Metal Hammer Magazine, said: “Geek, author, guitarist, icon – when it comes to recounting the history of metal, Scott Ian’s the man - catch him while you can.”
Tickets for the event, on May 29, are limited and are available now from vault.ticketleap.com/scottian.
