Parts of Bilton village have been cordoned off this afternoon following an accident involving a car and a pedestrian.

Police were called to Main Street, Bilton at 4.04pm today (Monday) where there was a collision involving a silver Ford Fiesta car and a male pedestrian outside Tesco Express.

Several police cars, an ambulance and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance all attended.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said it was a ‘serious injury road traffic collision’ but said there are no further details about the condition of the pedestrian at the moment.

Police have cordoned off the area and parts of Main Street and Bawnmore Road are currently closed.

The air ambulance and ambulance have just left the scene.

Officers on the scene confirmed that a man in his 70s has been airlifted to hospital following the collision.

They added that roads around the area will remain closed for a while so they can investigate.
