A gas leak has forced the closure of another road in Rugby this afternoon (Monday).
Police closed parts of Newbold Road after receiving an emergency call at around 2.50pm this afternoon.
National Grid, firefighters and police all attended the scene.
Newbold Road has since reopened but a track just off Newbold Road, opposite the Avon Mill pub, known as Avon Lane, remains closed by police.
A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said that something had hit a 12 inch gas mains and confirmed they had sealed off the area.
The spokesman added: “It was originally reported to us as a large leak.”
The leak also forced the closure of Rugby train station temporarily. No trains were allowed in or out the station.
The station has since reopened.
Last Monday police closed Hunters Lane following a gas leak after a lorry hit a mains.
There will be more on this story as we get it.
