Teams from Brooke School have excelled at the National Cheerleading Championships in Manchester.

The Brooke Allstarz primary team were crowned as Special Schools National champions for the fourth consecutive year whilst the secondary team, the Brooke Twirly Birds, finished second against very strong teams from other special schools. The Twirly Birds had held the title for the last three years.

Staff member Louise Day said: “Both teams gave fabulous performances and were a huge credit to their school and families. The Brooke School community is extremely proud of their massive achievements.”

The Brooke School cheerleading coaches also won a prestigious National Coaching award for the Development of Schools Cheerleading. The award was in recognition of their hard work and commitment to the development of cheerleading in special schools. Brooke School was the first special school in the UK to compete in the National Schools championships alongside their mainstream peers, which this led to the development of competition for special schools.
