Firefighters from Rugby were called to a car fire on the M6 on Friday night.
Fire crews from Rugby and Lutterworth attended the incident on the southbound carriageway on the M6 near junction one for Rugby.
The car caught fire after a collision involving three other cars.
No one was trapped in the vehicles.
Firefighters used specialist equipment to extinguish the fire.
The motorway junction was closed during the incident.
Police attending the scene from Rugby were held up getting to the accident due to dozens of vehicles trying to jump the queue via the hard shoulder.
Officers warned motorists to stay away from the hard shoulder unless they have broken down or its an emergency.
