Clifton Primary pupils' signs urge drivers to slow down

Pupils at Clifton Primary School have designed road signs for the village's new 20mph speed zone.

Eight of their eye-catching signs will be placed at four entrances to a new 20mph zone, which is set to be introduced later this year.

Cllr Leigh Hunt worked with developers at DIRFT and the MastSite to introduce traffic-calming measures to the village and organised the road sign competition.

She said: “It makes sense to involve the children in this since they are the future of our community, and we hope that when drivers see these signs they will think again and slow down.”

Lisa Bernard, head of school at Clifton Primary, said: “Having the children design the signs will help to spread the messages to their families and friends and encourage the whole community to reduce their speed.”

Warwickshire County Council is in the process of finalising plans for the traffic-calming scheme, with work due to commence in the autumn.
