Concern is mounting over the fate of a well-known Rugby character who has been reported missing.
James Matthews, aged 51, was brought up in Rugby and was known by many in the town’s pubs and clubs.
He moved to London around a year ago and his last address in Rugby was believed to be in Oxford Street.
Better known as Jimmy, friends said he lived in a number of places in Rugby and worked in the town.
He is thought to have been reported missing to police by friends he was living with in London.
One of the many he knows in Rugby is Claire Lomax, who worked with Jimmy for a year at Cemex.
Claire, aged 31, of Newbold, said Jimmy worked in admin at Cemex about eight years ago.
She said: “He is just such a lovely, friendly guy. Lots know him in Rugby, if not by name, then by face.
“People will know him from the pubs and clubs - the life and soul of the party.
“It’s so out of character for him to do something like this for so long. It’s very worrying. I just wish he would get in contact with people.”
The Metropolitan Police said Jimmy was reported missing on July 6. If he is seen in Rugby, call the police non-emergency number 101.
