Cyclist has died following an incident in Wolvey

A cyclist has died following an incident on a road in the village of Wolvey near Rugby on Saturday afternoon.

The elderly man was found lying on the ground on the Bulkington Road (B4109) beside his pedal cycle at 4.45pm by a passing motorist who contacted the police and ambulance.

The man was taken to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire by air ambulance, but sadly died on Sunday morning.

Police who are investigating the incident would like to hear from any pedestrians or motorists who travelled along the Bulkington Road on Saturday afternoon between 4pm – 4.45pm and who may have seen the elderly man on his pedal cycle travelling from Bulkington towards Wolvey. He was dressed in a red and black cycle helmet, dark jacket and brown trousers and his light coloured cycle had twin black panniers on the rear.
