A cyclist was killed following a collision with a car in the outskirts of Rugby on Friday evening.

Ambulance crews were called to the junction of the A4071 and Lawford Road at 8.20pm on January 8 after reports of the road traffic collision.

A man was found to have suffered serious injuries and rushed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment, but died of his injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Advanced life support was administered to the man who had suffered serious injuries.

“Despite the collective best efforts of all involved, he was later confirmed dead at hospital.”

The age and identity of the man has not yet been made known.

An advanced community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew attended, including the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

They were joined by two off-duty paramedics who stopped to help.
