Cllr Dr Mark Williams welcomes Jo Tyler to Rugby's volunteer dog warden team

Rugby Borough Council has signed up its first volunteer dog warden as part of its crackdown on dog fouling.

Jo Tyler has pledged to report dog owners who fail to clean up after their pets. The scheme was launched after a recent prosecution made possible by evidence provided by a member of the public. The publicity around the case prompted several other residents to come forward and offer to help the council’s campaign.

Cllr Dr Mark Williams, the broough councillor responsible for environmental policy, said: “This council is determined to crack down on the minority of dog owners who flout the law. However, we cannot be everywhere all of the time. That is why it is so important that Jo and others have come forward.” R

esidents can report dog fouling via www.rugby.gov.uk/app, via email to ept@rugby.gov.uk, or by phone on (01788) 533587.
