A woman who has been given months left to live has smashed her target to raise £3,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Christine Addison, 35, is taking part in this year’s Rugby Race for Life.

She says it will be an achievement in itself if she lives until the day of the race – July 13.

At the time of going to press Christine, of Coton Meadows, had raised nearly £4,000 in sponsorship for this year’s event.

Christine said: “I don’t have the words to tell you all how amazingly happy I am and how very lucky I feel to have so much support and so many wonderful family and friends.

“Thank you to everyone who has donated, to everyone who has supported me. You have all made a huge difference to me.”

Her cancer is spreading so quickly she will probably be pushed around the course in Rugby,

“Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported me and to all the people who have made donations via the Rugby Advertiser,” said Christine, who is married to Ian.

“Thankfully, I managed to complete the Race For Life 2013. I really wanted to run it and I managed to - just.”

Christine was diagnosed with advanced secondary metastatic bone cancer on September 27 and is currently having palliative chemotherapy.

She added: “There’s nothing to keep me here apart from a positive mind and the love and support of my amazing family and friends.”

Race for Life organisers in Rugby are still appealing for more women to come forward and take part in the event.

It is being held at Whitehall Recreation Ground at 11.30am on Sunday, July 13. Sarah Southall, Midlands marketing manager, said: “So far we have recruited just over 1,229 ladies, but we need another 371 ladies to sign up, so that we can continue to support the work of Cancer Research UK here in the county.”

It’s a female-only event. Enter at www.raceforlife.org or call 0845 600 6050.
