Election results: Conservatives retain power at Rugby town hall

The Conservative Party has retained control of Rugby Borough Council following Thursday’s elections.

They lost two seats but still have an overall majority of four. A third of the council’s 42 seats were up for election. The results were declared this afternoon (Friday).

The borough council is responsible for services and amenities including rubbish collection, housing, parks and leisure centres.

The total number of votes cast for each party, and their share of the vote (rounded to the nearest whole percentage point), were as follows:

Con 10,096 - 37%

Lab 6,943 - 26%

Lib Dem 3,669 - 14%

Green 2,619 - 10%

UKIP 2,047 - 7%

Ind 1,289 - 5%

TUSC 450 - 2%
