Police have named the Rugby pensioner who died in Bilton this week as Joe Roper.
Mr Roper, 81, who lived in Blackwood Avenue, died yesterday (Tuesday) morning in hospital following a collision involving a car in Main Street, Bilton on Monday afternoon.
Warwickshire Police officially named Mr Roper this morning (Wednesday).
Mr Roper’s family said: “What a lovely man he was and he will be dearly missed.”
Emergency services were called to Main Street in Bilton at around 4.04pm on Monday following the collision involving Mr Roper and a silver Ford Fiesta car outside Tesco Express.
Mr Roper suffered serious injuries in the collision and was flown to University Hospital in Coventry by the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance where he was in critical care.
Mr Roper passed away in hospital on Tuesday morning.
Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward - particularly anyone who was travelling on the number four bus which stopped outside Tesco Express at around 4pm.
