Shoppers can park free of charge at Rugby town centre’s John Barford car park on Saturdays before Christmas. The offer runs this Saturday, Saturday December 14, and Saturday December 21, after 10am.
The borough council has introduced the free parking offer to encourage residents to shop local and support town centre businesses in the run up to Christmas. Cllr Heather Timms, the councillor responsible for the economy, said: “We hope the free parking offer can deliver a real boost to businesses in the town centre during the festive season.
“Residents who choose to shop local for Christmas can save time, save fuel and save money by taking advantage of the free parking offer.”
The John Barford car park closes at 7pm. Borough council leader Cllr Craig Humphrey said earlier this year that the authority was considering making parking free over a longer term to protect trade in the town centre.
