Facebook and Twitter users are being invited to ‘strike a pose’ on Monday in memory of an inspirational Rugby man.
June 2 was the birthday of Robin Lal, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in December 2009.
In early January 2010, he underwent surgery to remove the tumour, followed by a course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The tumour became aggressive in November 2011 and Robin died in March 2012, aged 25. Robin started raising funds for charity before he died in March 2012, aged 25.
And now, to carry on the fundraising, his family are encouraging people to take a picture of themselves mid-’vogue’ - a form of dance that was popularised in a song and video by Madonna in 1990 - and post the photo on Facebook or Twitter on Monday, using the hashtag #Vogue4Robin.
Robin’s mum Chris said: “Robin, being a fun-loving person, would always get his friends, family and some celebrities to vogue – for fun! So we will strike a pose in honour of his birthday and raise funds and awareness of Robin’s chosen charities. It’s like the ‘no make-up’ selfie on Facebook and we hope it’s going to go worldwide.”
Donations to Robin’s favourite charities - the Willow Foundation, Brain Tumour UK and Myton Hospice - can be made via the web page www.4Robin.co.uk.
