A special screening of historic railway films featuring Rugby and West Coast route to Scotland is being presented at the Benn Hall later this month
The films show the West Coast route during the past 100 years from the days of the old London & North Western Railway through to modern times. Genuine pre-war colour film shows the golden streamlined age of steam, while the footage also includes Rugby Midland station in 1948, the steam-hauled Royal Scot express, 1960s modernisation and electrification and the 1980s Advanced Passenger Train which envisaged rail travel at speeds up to 150mph.
The presentation takes place on Wednesday February 26, beginning at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6.50 for adults and £4 for children. For information or to book tickets, call (01788) 533719.
