Intruder and householder injured in burglary

Police in Rugby are investigating an incident at a house in Norman Road, Newbold in the early hours of Friday morning (April 25) in which both the male householder was injured and the intruder is also believed to have sustained an injury.

Nothing appears to have been stolen from the house in the incident, which took place at shortly after 4am on Friday. The householder chased the intruder from the house.

A man matching the description of the intruder was located in Newbold Road a short time later. He was taken to University Hospital, Coventry for treatment to a head injury.

The householder was also taken to University Hospital for treatment to injuries to his hands sustained in the attack.

Police, who are investigating the circumstances of the incident, would like to hear from anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area of Norman Road and Newbold Road in the early hours of Friday morning.
