A different Kerrang! Radio DJ will be performing in Rugby every Friday night from May 3, Vault have announced.

After hosting a string of major acts in past months the venue has received national recognition for bringing international acts to Rugby like Guns ‘n Roses’ Duff McKagan’s band Walking Papers, wrestler Chris Jerecho’s band Fozzy, cult favourites The Subways and punk rock superstars The Ataris. Kerrang! favourite Jonny Doom DJ’d at Vault last month and went down a storm.

Callum Orzechowski, who owns the club with Mike Leonard, said he was ecstatic with the news: “We started Vault three years ago and there have been occasions when I’ve needed to pinch myself. Seeing rockstars that have filled stadiums playing in Rugby is incredible. This is another one of those moments.”

Jonny Doom, who will be at the launch night on May 3 with breakfast DJ Loz Guest, has a reputation for his extensive knowledge of music - especially the underground metal scene.

Callum said: “This came about because were looking for a special guest DJ for the anniversary of our PANDAmonium club night and one of the team emailed Johnny Doom from Kerrang! Radio asking if he would be available. Much to our surprise we got an email straight back saying yes he would love to. He did a great job on the night and people loved him - he must have had fun too because he’s coming back in a couple of weeks.”

He added: “As we’ve now hosted several big bands we’re used to getting a lot of strange requests from them, like making sure their dressing room has a bowl of blue M&Ms. We did ask Johnny if he wanted anything special, but it turned out he just wanted for a Cornish Pasty, and being the hospitable people we are we got him two from a local petrol station.”

The venue’s success in attracting major acts has led to rock fans travelling from across the Midlands to catch their favourite band. Details of upcoming shows can be seen by searching for Vault on Facebook.
