Plans for up to 154 new homes in Kilsby have been revealed in two separate planning proposals.

Gladman Developments has unveiled a plan for up to 100 new homes on land off Rugby Road in the village.

This has come after a planning application was been submitted to Daventry District Council for around 40 homes off the Daventry Road/A361 on the southern edge of the village. There are also proposals for 14 new homes off the A5 roundabout.

The plans have caused concern in the village, which currently has 550 homes.

Speaking about the proposals for Rugby Road, parish council chairman Reg Dunn said: “We did not know about these plans. They say they have distributed leaflets but no one has seen any.

“It is very difficult to comment on the application because we have not seen a detailed planning application.

“We have got concerns and one of the most important is safety. For us in the village, we would like more affordable and shared ownership houses in the village to help protect things like the pub and the school. It doesn’t stop us being concerned about the development.”

The parish council is also concerned for an application which has recently been submitted for 40 homes. Cllr Dunn added: “There is a lot of concern over safety over that site.

“They want to put the access to the site off a small gate on the A361 which drivers are going to struggle to see.

“The developers plan to put an uncontrolled crossing along the A361 which means people leaving the estate, such as children going to the school, will have to cross the A361.

“We are also very worried that for traffic, they can’t see the access until very late which will be dangerous for residents. Gladman Developments has previously outlined plans for 155 homes in Weedon and 100 homes in Nether Heyford.

The developers are seeking reactions to the proposal to build 100 homes.
