Emergency services were called out at 3.18pm to reports that a silver ford fiesta had hit a pole on the Coventry Road, near Long Lawford.

Police said the road was closed between the A428 at Bretford and the junction with Livingston Road in Long Lawford. It later re-opened at 9.21pm.

The car’s driver and passenger were taken to hospital by land ambulance where they were treated for minor injuries.

Motorists were diverted away from the scene while the road closure was in place - and this resulted in another blockage further down the road.

The Advertiser was sent the above photograph showing a number 86 bus stuck horizontally across both lanes.

Onlookers said the bus’s back wheels became wedged after its driver spotted the closure up ahead and attempted a three point turn in the road.
