A Bilton woman is holding a fundraising day in honour of her mother who is fighting cancer.
Paula Dew is having a ‘birthday bash’ on Sunday, September 7, at Draycote Hotel, Thurlaston.
Funds will go to Macmillan Cancer Support as a tribute to her mum Irene, who will be 69 on September 5.
Paula, who lives in Larch Close, said: “My mam was diagnosed as having lung cancer with brain metastases just before Christmas last year.
“She’s not too good at the moment, but she still has her sense of humour and she’s not giving in yet.”
The free fundraising day at Draycote Hotel runs from 10am - 6pm and will include fun for all the family and is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Mam, who is from Newcastle, is an awesome human being and I want to support her in every way that I can – she has always been my rock for me through the years and now it’s my turn to help her.”
“Helping raise funds makes me feel useful as I’m so far away from her.”
Everyone is invited to the event, which includes stalls, raffle with top prizes, ice bucket challenges and a disco. Is is being organised by Paula Dew to give something back to Macmillan Cancer Support, who are helping her mother.
“There’s something for everbody on the day so I’m hoping to see lots of people there, having fun and helping a charity that does amazing work for people with cancer and their families,” she said.
