Man hit and kicked during attack outside Rugby railway station

A 25-year-old man was assaulted outside Rugby railway station late last night (Tuesday).

Shortly after getting off a train from Birmingham, the man was waiting for a lift home when he was approached by men who hit him around the head, causing him to fall to the ground, and kicked him.

The man was taken to the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby where he had an X-ray. He was released after treatment.

The incident was reported at 12.15am this morning (Wednesday).

The offenders are described as follows:

1. white male aged 40-50 years old, 6ft tall, stocky build with a shaved head and white or grey stubble. He was wearing blue jeans and a loose fitting beige coat.

2. white male aged 19-20 years old, slim build, 6ft tall and wearing grey jogging bottoms, white trainers and a red hooded top which was covering his face.

They were with a third man, but he is not believed to have been involved in the assault, He is described as a white male aged 40-45 years old, 6ft, medium build with short grey or white wavy hair. He was generally smart in appearance, wearing a navy blue jacket and glasses.

There were a number of members of the public around at the time of the incident, including taxi drivers, and police investigating the assault would like to hear from any of them as they may have information which would be of use.
