Man pulls teenager to the ground and tries to steal mobile phone in Rugby

A man pulled a teenage boy to the ground and attempted to steal his mobile phone in Rugby.

The attempted robbery happened on Wednesday, January 27.

Between 9.30am and 9.45am the victim, a 14-year-old boy, was sitting in the passageway that runs parallel to St Georges Avenue and adjoins Dunchurch Road when he was approached by an unknown man.

As the boy stood up to check his phone for the time, an unknown man grabbed the boy’s right arm and pulled him to the ground.

The man has then tried to grab the victim’s phone while the victim lay on the floor.

The victim managed to fend of the man who then made off on foot along the bridleway.

The offender is described as a black man of medium build between 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall and is believed to be in his late teens to early twenties. He also had a goatee beard.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a black hooded top, green trousers and white Nike trainers with either red or pink accents.

Shortly before the offence occurred another man engaged the victim in conversation. This man was carrying some milk and walking a dog at the time.

He is described as between 50 to 65 years of age with greying hair. Officers are keen to speak to this man as he may have information that could help progress the investigation.
