Warwickshire Police formally welcomed 16 new special constables this month.
These fully trained, warranted volunteers now have the same powers and responsibilities as regular police officers and will commit a number of hours each month to support regular police officers.
Deputy Chief Constable Neil Brunton welcomed the specials at a ceremony on May 6. He said “We are all delighted that you have volunteered to work for Warwickshire Police and sincerely appreciate the fact that you are about to pledge a significant amount of your time to help protect our communities from harm.
“Your time and commitment will ensure greater uniform visibility across our communities and will significantly help in reducing crime and reassuring the public. In return we will provide you with leadership training and broader development which will help equip you for your future career.”
