A Rugby couple opened a card and gift boutique in Chapel Street today (Monday).
Husband and wife duo Graham and Maxine Saxton, who live in Bilton, opened the doors to House of Cards this morning.
As well as a range of cards, the shops also stocks gifts including jewellery, candles and scarfs.
There is also a Belgium chocolate counter.
Graham owned a petrol station in Nottingham for 30 years, while Maxine worked in Dunelm in Rugby for around eight years.
The couple both retired before deciding to follow their dream of opening a card shop.
Maxine said: “We’ve tried to do something a little bit different. It’s a very busy area with a lot of people walking past. We’ve had a good response so far.”
The new shop is located in the former unit of Hunts Bookshop, which was also home to Terracotta for many years before it moved to Bank Street.
Aftab Gaffar, managing director at Rugby First said: “It’s a quality shop which is a great addition to the town.”
Mr Gaffar said more shops will be opening in the town centre in due course, including the Play Cafe which has moved from Church Street and will reopen in High Street.
