Achievements of people in Rugby who go that extra mile for others could be celebrated with a Young Citizen Award.
Pauline Kimber, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Rugby Saturday Breakfast, is appealing for people to nominate individuals who are an inspiration to others.
The Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) Young Citizen Awards (YCA) in association with the BBC News Channel, showcase and celebrate the positive citizenship and important responsibilities assumed by many young people under the age of 25.
RIBI Young Citizen winners receive a trophy, certificate and a prize of £500 to be nominated for use of a charity or project the winners are involved. The awards will be presented at the RIBI annual conference and will be filmed live on the BBC News Channel.
Pauline said: “Youth gets bad press and there are so many young people who not only do a lot in the community – they have to do a great deal at home too.”
Participants will need to supply information as to which charity or good cause their prize cheque is to be made out to in advance of their attendance at the RIBI Conference.
Winners are then invited to visit the BBC News TV studios in London and the Houses of Parliament.
“Some young people have to overcome personal adversity to get on in life,” added Pauline.
“Others are young people who have to take care of others, yet they still manage to stay cheerful, get on with their school work and still be an inspiration to others.”
She said these are the children/youths she would like to hear about.
They can be nominated by their peers, carers or organisations they volunteer for, or any youth organisation that they attend.
The final choice to go forward is that of the BBC, but Rotary clubs all over the country are looking for those people to nominate.
Those nominated do not have to be working on a Rotary project but they do have to be nominated by their local Rotary club to be eligible for an award.
Please email your nominations to email@example.com, with Young Citizen written in the subject box.
