Police issue appeal after man assaulted with 'bladed weapon' in Bilton

An appeal for witnesses has been launched after a man was assaulted in Bilton in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident happened at around 2.45am in Collingwood Avenue. The victim was walking with a woman when they were approached by two men and one of the men attacked the victim with what is thought to be a bladed weapon.

The victim, a man in his late teens, suffered a serious cut to his ear and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The two men are thought to have left the area in the direction of May Lane or Bilton Road.

The offender is described as a mixed race man aged in his early to mid-twenties, average build, around 5 foot 10 inches tall with short dark hair.

He was wearing a dark coloured zip up hooded top with the hood raised, a black baseball cap and dark coloured tracksuit bottoms, and carrying a ‘man bag’ or shoulder bag.

The second male in company with the offender is described as a white man, early to mid twenties, around 5 foot 9 inches with blonde hair and a skinny build. He was wearing a white T-shirt.

Detective Constable Alex Horwood of Warwickshire Police said: “This is a serious assault that has caused significant injury to the victim, who is fortunate the outcome was not more serious.

“We would like to reassure the community that we are investigating this incident thoroughly and that officers will be present in the area conducting enquiries in what appears to be an isolated incident.

“We urge anyone who may have witnessed the assault to call us on 101, quoting incident number 55 of June 25.”
