A Rugby businessman has raised concern about the number of lorries parking in Somers Road.

Steve Dennis, owner of Runabout Auto Centre in Somers Road, arrived at work recently to find that a lorry had reversed into the gas main outside his garage, as well as knocking a wall down.

Emergency gas work had to be carried out to fix the damage caused.

Mr Dennis said: “The lorry completely flattened it. They park on my drive all the time and it damages the tarmac.

“It is not designed to have 20 tonne lorries parked on it. I’ve now had to put barriers up to stop them parking on my premises.”

Mr Dennis added: “So many lorries park down here. I’m worried an accident will happen down here before long.”

There are currently no parking restrictions in Somers Road.
