A Bilton mum has shaved her hair off to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support at a fundraising event at Premier Foods.
The company, in Haynes Way, Swift Valley, has chosen Macmillan as its charity of the year and held a fun day to drum up donations.
Sinade Edington, who has worked at Premier Foods for 19 years, said she had smashed her fundraising target. She added: “I said if I managed to raise £200 then I would be happy, but I’ve managed to get £650 so far. “People have been very generous.
“I thought about doing something like this years ago but didn’t dare do it until now.
“I decided I wanted to grow my hair and then I thought why don’t I start from the start and take it all off first.
“It’s my son’s graduation next week so I was worried how he would feel about it but he’s supported me.
“I’ve taken part in Race for Life many times but I’ve never done anything that people would look twice at, but now they will!”
The event, on July 3, included a barbecue, penalty shoot-out, stalls and a raffle.
