Rugby’s main post office will close for two weeks next month – and will open 30 minutes later every day once refurbishment work is complete.

The new-look Albert Street branch will have seven serving positionss, with a serving point at the retail counter.

The post office will be closed from Wednesday June 12 until Monday June 24. It re-opens on Tuesday June 25 at 9am.

Adrain Wales, Post Office regional network manager for central England, said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Rugby and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

The nearest post offices are in Bridget Street - about a 15-minute walk from Albert Street - and Boughton Road, which is about 23 minutes away on foot.

From June 25, the Albert Street branch will open from Monday to Saturday at 9am – 30 minutes later than at present. It will close at 5.30pm, as per the current arrangement.

Mr Wales added that the refurbishment secures the branch’s future.
