Students keep quiet to help disadvantaged children

They took part in a number of fundraising events including a sponsored silence and raised £1,274.73.

Dunchurch couple Sue and Tony Melia, of Bwengu Projects, said every penny will go towards good work in Malawi.

Class IV chose to pay the salary of a needlework teacher and food for orphans at the seven feeding stations in the Bwengu area.

Children have studied the area as their Geography topic, comparing a location very different to their own.

Mr and Mrs Melia said: “It is amazing what a small school has achieved.”

Since 2006, the couple have spent months each summer working in Bwengu, project-managing its wholsesale transformation.
